DESIGN OF THE YEAR 2014 – FURNITURE – Iro Collection

This year, London Design Festival saw the launch of Japanese designer Jo Nagasaka’s new range of furniture: the Iro Collection. This range has been designed by the artist exclusively for Established & Sons.

Named after the word for “colour” in Japanese, Iro is a family of vibrant yet elegant furniture comprising of two low tables, a storage unit with drawers and a credenza with sliding doors.

Nagasaka’s inspiration for the collection was based on the idea of a symphony of colour and industrial materials.

The work remains true to the Japanese minimalist style whilst being elevated to avant-garde status through the use of brightly coloured resin. The elegant and smooth finishing highlights the beautiful properties of the natural grain of the wood enclosed within the resin.

The collection comes in various colours including Coral and Ocean Green.
